Dorothy "Susie" Brown

Dorothy C. “Susie” “Maw Maw” Brown, 88, passed away Saturday December 16, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by members of her family. She passed following a brief illness.

Susie worked for Western Electric/AT&T and was a member of Communication Workers of America for over 18 years. She enjoyed spending time with her church family and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Susie treasured her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She enjoyed traveling, new adventures and enjoyed much fun and success playing slot machines. Recently she enjoyed long drives with her daughter and her family through the countryside and around to see the local Christmas Lights.

Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Brown, a love and dedication spanning 67 years; and her parents, John and Maggie Cummings. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Junior, Lacy, and Ernest “Bill” Cummings. Susie is survived by her son, Dale and his wife, Robin Brown; her daughter, Tonya and her husband Mike Joyce; three grandchildren, Misty and her husband Jonathan Hyman, Ryan and his wife Codie Brown, and Micah Joyce; four great grandchildren, Zoey and Milo Brown, and Addison and Audrey Hyman; and her feline friend, Nosey Belle. She is also survived by her sister Pauline M. “Polly” Masencup and her husband Larry; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel on Wednesday December 20, 2023, at 2pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior at Hayworth-Miller. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. She will always be loved and greatly missed.
