Dorothy Byerly Spaugh

Mrs. Dorothy""Joann"" Byerly Spaugh, 79, of Clemmons, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Saturday, January 12, 2013. She was born in Davidson County on May 8, 1933 to Arthur Lee and Minnie Sink Byerly. Mrs. Spaugh was a member of Hope Moravian Church for 59 years. Dorothy was retired but continued working as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed baking cakes for the church and anyone else that wanted one. She loved to work in her garden, the yard and keeping house. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathy Lynn Spaugh; two sisters, Elzie Whitaker and Mildred Essick. Surviving are her loving husband of 59 years, Lloyd S. Spaugh; a son, Steve Spaugh and wife Jacklyn of Greensboro; five granddaughters, Lauren Hartle and husband Shawn, Emily and Rebecca Spaugh, Alexandria Hernandez and Caroline Spaugh; two grandsons, John and Gabriel Favors; one future great grandson, baby Hartle. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, January 18, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Jimmy C. Newsome, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
