Dorothy Simmons

Mrs. Dorothy Grey Simmons, 80, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 25, 1930 in Forsyth County to Wade B. and Florence Sullivan Merritt. Mrs. Simmons was a longtime member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church, presently a member at Calvary Baptist Church, and a devoted follower of Christ. She was a prolific letter writer, and was known for her singing and public speaking in her early years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Vickie Grey Simmons. Surviving are her husband, O. Curtis Simmons; a daughter, Olivia Doyle and husband Tracy; a son, Mark Simmons and wife Julie; three grandsons, Alex and Jonathan Simmons, and Matthew Doyle; and beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22 at Center Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Corts officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.
