Mrs. Dorothy Striney Serosky, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 25, 1926 in Hazleton, PA to William and Mary Striney. Mrs. Serosky graduated from Hazleton High School in 1944. She graduated as a registered nurse from Jefferson Medical College School of Nursing in 1947. She married Stanley A. Serosky on February 3, 1951 and moved to Winston-Salem from Hillside, NJ in 1963. She worked as a Register Nurse throughout her entire life. She was employed at Forsyth Memorial Hospital for 23 years, retiring in 1987. Mrs. Serosky loved being a volunteer at The Shepherd's Center, and was a devoted member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Stanley in 1999. Surviving are one son, Mark Serosky (Sallie) of Clemmons; two daughters, Aileen S. Colbert (Charles) of Kansas, and Loretta Alexander (Arthur) of Oro Valley, AZ; two grandchildren, Michael Serosky of Winston-Salem and Susan Serosky of Fort Mills, SC; three sisters, Bernadine Otterbine, Natalie Striney and Andrea Gibson. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Father Lucas Rossi officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
