Dorothy Leach Pope

Mrs. Dorothy Leach Pope, 86 of Winston-Salem, died Wednesday morning November 12, 2008 at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Pope was born August 15, 1922 in Forsyth County, a daughter of the late Wilson Leach and the late Alice Loggins Leach. She was a homemaker and an active member of Hopewell Moravian Church for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold S. Pope, Sr. in 1982, brothers and sisters, Mildred, Betty Jo, Alvin, Floyd and Brady Leach, aunt, Leota Loggins and son-in-law, Bobby Gill. She is survived by her children, Sherman Pope, Jr. and wife Patsy, Anita Gill, Danny Pope and wife Dawn, sisters, Barbara Roggenkemp, and Hilda Elliott, granddaughters, Amanda Dail, and Virginia Pope, great-granddaughter, Karalyn Dail, sisters-in-law, Charlotte Leach and Dorthea Nell Leach, and a lifelong friend, Rachel Perrell. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday November 14, 2008 at Hopewell Moravian Church with Rev. Russell May and Rev. David Merritt officiating. Interment will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care in Winston-Salem or Greensboro. The family wishes to thank the Hospice Team Caregivers, and Victoria Burnett, Wilma Thomkins, Joann Bass Ruth Russell, and Cindi Lipscomb for the care and love shown to Mrs. Pope.
