Dorothy Louise Davis Owen

Ms. Dorothy Louise Davis Owen, 83, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Tuesday June 14, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. Ms. Owen was born on September 11, 1927 in Nashville, TN to the late John and Nellie Davis. Ms. Owen retired from the Winston-Salem Journal. She enjoyed gardening, planting new flowers and loved playing the piano She was a loving mother and grandmother and she adored her dog Mozy. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving Ms. Owen are two sons, Wendell Owen (Linda) of Columbia, TN and Danny Owen of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Vicki Dees of Winston-Salem and Barbara Owen of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren, William Scott Owen, Bridgette Michelle Puckett, Michael Shawn Owen, Christy Marie Carter (Russell), Danette Erica Gardner (Tim), Matthew Davis Owen, Robert Erskine Dees Jr. and Jessica Lynn Cleary (Bobby); two brothers, Charles Davis (Delores) of Texas and John Davis (Faye) of TN; seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and four nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.
