Mrs. Dorothy Dye Newsom, 96, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at The Oaks at Forsyth. She was born March 12, 1913 in Forsyth County to John W. and Daisey Cruise Dye. Mrs. Newsome was of the protestant faith. She retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 42 years of service. She enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James G. Newsom; three brothers, Rubin, Russell and Harvey Dye. Surviving is one daughter, Barbara Sanford of Winston-Salem; and two sisters, Opal Sloan of California and Mildred Dye of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 25 at Parklawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
