Dorothy Younger Mills

Mrs. Dorothy Younger Mills, 83, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Surry Co. on September 18, 1932 the daughter of the late Harrison Younger and Myrtle East Younger. Mrs. Mills was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She worked for the Forsyth County School System at Mineral Springs Junior High for many years. Mrs. Mills was a longtime member of Marshall Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery, taught Sunday School and worked in the Awana program at the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years in February of this year; Thomas Cleveland Mills, four brothers; Pete, Randolph, Rex and Bruce and a sister; Lena. Mrs. Mills is survived by a daughter; Lynn Myers and husband Jim of Welcome, a son; Lannie Mills and wife Kathy of Mooresville, two grandchildren; John Mills of Mooresville and Jessica Mills Holmes and husband J.R. of Raleigh, two great-grandchildren; Elijah Thomas Holmes and Owen Michael Holmes, one sister; Treva Collins of Mt. Airy, three brothers; Kermit Younger, Birchard Younger (Foy) and Jim Younger (Janice) all of Mt. Airy, special friends; Connie ""Margaret"" and Donnie ""Otis"" Bullins of Germanton and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services for Mrs. Mills will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 at Marshall Baptist Church in Winston-Salem with Pastor John Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
