Dorothy Hewlett Mendenhall

Mrs. Dorothy Hewlett Mendenhall, 87, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 15, 1924 in Rossville, TN to Herschal and Lena Dunn Hewlett. Mrs. Mendenhall was an avid golfer. She was a lifetime member of Forsyth Medical Center Auxilliary, a volunteer at North Davidson County Library, and a member of Davidson County Mental Health Board. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Camille Ann Autry; a sister; and two brothers. Surviving are her husband, B.E. (Mendy) Mendenhall; a son, Larry Mendenhall of Falls Church, VA; a daughter, Sherry Rethwisch of Riverview, FL; five grandchildren, Brian Autry, Amy Lackey, Byron Mendenhall, Scott Mendenhall, and Alexander Rethwisch; three great grandchildren; and a brother, John Alexander. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Jay Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Church of Christ Cemetery in Davidson County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
