Mrs. Dorothy ""Dot"" Mae Vance Kiger passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County on October 22, 1927 to the late Hattie Mabe Vance and Marvin Dewitt Vance. Mrs. Kiger was a devoted member of Kingswood United Methodist Church and loved her church family dearly. She walked her life as a testimony to her Christianity. Mrs. Kiger was witty and had an infectious laugh that would brighten your day and warm your heart. She was a most kind and giving mother and ""Mimi"" and also a good friend to all who knew her. She loved spending time at Sunset Beach with her family.
In addition to her parents; Mrs. Kiger was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Gray Kiger, Sr.; son; Milton Gray Kiger, Jr.; grandson, Griffin Milton Middleton; and six siblings. She is survived by two daughters, Temple Kiger Jones and husband, Dan of Boone and Kim Kiger Middleton and husband, Ronnie of Rural Hall; two granddaughters, Natalie Jones Keech and Layla Jones; two grandsons, Lucas and John Middleton; sister, Jane Vance Vellines and husband, Richard of Spartanburg, SC; special friends, Eddie and Sharon Galyean; and numerous extended family members.
A private graveside service will be conducted and there will be no formal visitation. Memorials may be made to: Kingswood United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 399, Rural Hall, NC 27045. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers that have taken exceptional care of their mother over the last four years.
