Mrs. Dorothy Goforth Jordan, 86, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 22, 1923 in Spartanburg SC to William C. and Marie Goforth. Mrs. Jordan was of the Baptist faith. She was a veteran of the US Army during World War II, serving in the Signal Corps in Germany and the US. She was retired from Forsyth County Public Library after 23 years of service. Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years Kenneth D. Jordan; a sister, Bea Carey and a loving step-mother, Geneva Goforth. Surviving are three daughters, Sandra Stewart, Janice Childress and husband Steve, and Melinda Smith; three grandsons, Josh, Jared and Dylan; one great-grandson, Gavin; two sisters; and three brothers. A military service will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with J. P. Sizemore officiating. A private family interment will follow.
