Mrs. Dorothy Jane ""Janie"" Henley, 83, of Old Town, was called home to our Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. She was born one of ten children in Louisville, KY on July 15, 1933 to Verna Clark and John Parsley. Janie was a Kentucky girl at heart who loved the Kentucky Derby and was an avid Wildcats fan. She was a hard working woman even as a child, she was a tom boy working in the field with her brother Dave. Janie was a loving wife and mother who if you asked her what her greatest accomplishment in life would be, that she quickly would tell you that it was her ten children that she raised. Her family meant more to her than anything. Having everyone at her house and cooking for Sunday and holiday dinners is what made her happy. She loved gardening and working in the yard and hated to see fall come and see all the leaves fall from the trees and the flowers stop blooming. She was a strong and wise woman who always knew just what to say. If you ever needed advice you could go to her for anything. Janie was kind and selfless and always put everyone before herself. She touched the lives of every person that she met. She will forever be loved and missed by everyone and her memory will live on through her children and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce D. Henley, Sr.; a daughter, Deborah Jane Henley; a son, Mark Henley and grandchildren, Warren Henley and Crystal Brady. Surviving are eight children, Bonnie Widener (Emory), Mike Henley (Alissa), Sharon Cline (James), Rhoda Casper (Steve), Royce Henley, Jr., Peggy Hutchins (Clint), Steve Henley (Cathi) and Katie Brady; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Pat Gooding; a brother, Dave Parsley (Cleda) and her little brother, Roy Day, Jr. The family will receive friends from 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with a service starting at 5:30 p.m.
