Dorothy Harris

Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Lee Chipman Harris, 75, of Clemmons, passed away unexpectedly in an accidental house fire, on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. She was born on April 6, 1942, in Surry County to the late Lee "Roy" Chipman and Ethel Mae McBride Chipman. Mrs. Harris loved her family dearly, and adored her grandson and great grandchildren. She was a strong believer in God and will be missed dearly. She was a kind and giving person, who was an avid animal lover. Her beloved and furry companions, Oscar, Button, and Sparky, crossed the rainbow bridge alongside their loving caretaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, James "Jim" Chipman; and one sister, Polly Stuart. Surviving are her loving husband of 57 years, Earl Harris; one son, Scott Harris (Melanie); one grandson, Christopher Harris (Jessica); two great-grandchildren, Ryder Harris and Skyler Doomy. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Sue Chipman Sloop and Wilma Faye Chipman Smith, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
