Dorothy Hester Fink

Kernersville – Mrs. Dorothy Hester Fink, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Trinity Glen Nursing Home. She was born on July 2, 1934, in Coushatta, LA to Jesse Hester and Linie Giddings Hester. Dorothy enjoyed working for many years in security at Greensboro Airport. She was an avid reader and loved gardening of any kind. Dorothy also loved birds and enjoyed watching them on their feeders. She loved people, always having a kind word and a smile for everyone that she met. Many people would come to visit just to see her beautiful smiling face and brighten their day. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by anyone who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Donald Fink, Jr.; three daughters, Dottie Fink, Donna Fink (Tim), and Debra Fink; and one sister, Eva Lou Giddens.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Duhon (Rick) and Terri Norman (Scott); four grandchildren, Matt Norman (Anna), Ashley Norman (Tinisha), Timmy Duhon (Lauren), and Jennifer Hendren (Shane); ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers and all of those who assisted with Dorothy’s care at Trellis Supportive care. 

A funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Francis Smith officiating. Interment will be held 12:00 PM Monday, January 13, 2025, at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trellis Supportive Care at 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Elizas helping hands Inc. at 1225 E 5th St #100, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
