Mrs. Dorothy ""Dot"" Jordon Essick, age 77 passed away at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home Saturday evening June 12, 2010. She was born in Forsyth County on September 15, 1932 to the late Charlie and Ethel Johnson Jordon. Dot operated Essick's Barbeque for 27 years. She was a loyal member of Women of the Moose. She is preceded in death by husband Roy ""Dick"" Essick; and two sisters Virginia Hull and Irene Brown. Dot is survived by three sons Roy ""Ted"" Essick and wife Nell of Lexington, Richard D. Essick of Mooresville, and Ronnie H. Essick and wife Lori of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren Jade, Abby, and Ellie; two sisters Shirley Boger Fields of Winston-Salem and Helen Shoaf of Lexington; and a special friend Dallas Logan. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday June 15, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Michael Shoaf officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kate B.
