Dorothy Cope Ellis

Mrs. Dorothy Cope Ellis, 82, of Advance passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Oaks at Forsyth. She was born May 7, 1928 in Davie County to Walter and Hattie Smith Cope. Mrs. Ellis was a member of Macedonia Moravian Church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Lou Doss and Hazel Smith and two brothers, Eugene and Aldean Cope. Surviving is her husband, Ausbon Ellis; two daughters Judy Snider and husband Wayne and Carol Ellis; a son, Kenny Ellis and wife Rachel; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Hendrix, Arlene Douthit and Mary Hendrix and two brothers, W.L. Cope and wife Eunice and Willie Cope and wife Marie. A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Macedonia Moravian Church with Rev. Jeff Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Friday, February 18, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
