Dorothy Stevens East

EAST Mrs. Dorothy Stevens East, 86, passed away on her birthday, Wednesday December 24, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Guilford County on December 24, 1922 to the late Walter and Ada Mabe Stevens. Mrs. East was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Robert West Sunday School Class. She retired from the Winston-Salem/ Forsyth County School System in 1985. She was an excellent cook and homemaker who loved gardening. Preceding Mrs. East in death were nine brothers and sisters. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, George G. East of the home, two daughters Sylvia E. Bailey and husband Robert and Carole E. Barringer and husband Dwight all of Kernersville. Three grandchildren Amy Beinke and husband Jeffery of Kernersville, Brigitte and Tyler Barringer of Greensboro, two great grandchildren Kyle and Hannah Beinke of Kernersville , a brother Coy Stevens and wife Betty of Clemmons. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday December 27, 2008 at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Walkertown with the Pastor Steve Autrey and the Rev. Chris Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday December 26, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Kernersville Chapel.
