Miss Dorothy June Dinkins, 85, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010 at her home. She was born April 27, 1925 in Yadkin County to the late Gray and Cornelia Mundy Dinkins. June was a graduate of Yadkinville High School, received her B.S. Degree from Appalachain State University, M.S. Degree from the University of Tennessee and did Graduate Study at Northwestern. June was the Athletic Director for 12 years at R.J. Reynolds High School. In 1962, she started working in real estate and formed Twin City Investment Company. She lived and breathed real estate, and had a special interest in mentoring young Realtors. June was well known throughout the Realtor organization on the local, state, and national levels. Locally, she was past president of the Winston-Salem Association of Realtors, Property Management Division, and Multiple Listing Service. She was honored to be the Realtor of the Year twice, Property Manager of the Year and inducted into the Tom Lambe Hall of Fame. The local realtors established an award in her honor, The June Dinkins Political Affairs Award. She was a member of the N.C. Association of Realtors and received their highest honor, the Realtor of the Year award, also on the state level. She was Past President, Director, Regional Vice President, President of Property Management Division and Life Member and Trustee of RPAC. June was a member and Past Regional Vice-President of the National Association of Realtors. She also received the Appalachian St. Alumni of the Year award for her endeavors. June was preceded in death by her parents and 7 brothers and sisters. Surviving are her sister Miss Eleanor Dinkins; and two nephews, Phillip Gray and Keith Robert. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow in Forbush Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Ardmore United Methodist Church, 630 S. Hawthorne Rd.
