Dorothy Leona Crosslin Davis

Mrs. Dorothy Leona Crosslin Davis, of Winston-Salem, went to sleep peacefully in Jesus at her home on Sunday, March 3, 2013. Mrs. Davis was born on October 9, 1932 in Manchester, Tennessee, the daughter of William Thomas and Olivia Sims Crosslin. After raising five children as a stay-at-home mother, Mrs. Davis returned to school and obtained her nursing degree. She retired from North Carolina Baptist Hospital after 32 years of service in the operating room. For over 50 years, she was an active member of the Winston-Salem First Seventh-day Adventist Church as a deaconess, teacher, Home and School leader, and social and hospitality coordinator. She is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Dr. C.M. Davis, Jr.; her five children, Cosby M. (Robin) Davis, III of Winston-Salem, Dr. Terry L. (Melanee) Davis of Winston-Salem, Karen D. (Rick) Lewis of Matthews, NC, Victor K. (Kelly) Davis of Winston-Salem and Olivia D. (Brad) Butner of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Heather D. (Andrew) Johnson, Nicholas (Kristin) Lewis, Ashley L. (Matthew) Hunzelman, Zachery B. Davis, and Eric C. Davis; and two great-grandchildren of whom she was very proud. The family will receive visitors on Friday evening, March 8, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Winston-Salem First Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4545 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, NC. A graveside service will follow immediately at Forsyth Memorial Park.
