RURAL HALL Mrs. Dorothy Meadows Wooten Creed, 94, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice home in Winston-Salem. She was born the seventh of eight children on June 17, 1919 on a farm in King, NC to the late Robert Cicero 'R.C.' Meadows and Vertie Ludolfa Goff Meadows. She attended King School where she finished in 1936. Mrs. Creed was saved and joined King Moravian Church in 1927 at the age of 8. She attended church and Sunday school all of her life and received a gold pin for five years of perfect attendance. Mrs. Creed also sang in the church choir, was a past denier for the Love Feast and served as a treasurer for several years. She was a devoted Christian lady. Mrs. Creed first married John Leroy 'Roy' Wooten and they were married for 15 years until his death in 1970. Her second marriage was to Henry Creed in 1982 and they were married for 17 1/2 years when he passed away on July 11, 2000. Henry and Dot had dated when they were teenagers but they both married others and did not see each other for 43 years. After being reunited, they made a wonderful life together. In addition to her parents and her two husbands she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Maxine Meadows, Frances Meadows, and Lois Smith and her two brothers, Paul and Roy Meadows. Mrs. Creed is survived by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great- nieces and several great-great-great nieces and nephews. Dorothy also leaves behind a dear friend of 35 plus years, Mildred Honeycutt. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday August 14 at 2:00 o'clock at King Moravian Church with Dr. Neil Routh and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery in King. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 Tuesday August 13 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
