CLAYTON - WINSTON-SALEM Mrs. Dorothy Gentry Albert Clayton passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born June 6, 1925 in Rockingham County to the late Howell Oscar Gentry and Elizabeth McCollum Gentry. Mrs. Clayton was the historian for Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William ""Bill"" Albert; an infant sister, Alice; and two step-sons, Gary and Bobby Clayton. Surviving are her husband of 30 years, John Clayton; six children, Duane Albert (Sandy), Tim Albert (Candace), Sherri Albert Stewart (Barry), Mary Jane Clayton Phillips (Jeff), Jimmy Clayton (Janet), and Karen Laney (Roger). Also surviving are 43 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Lib Chrismon; and three brothers, Howell, Leon and Roger Gentry. A funeral service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 27 at Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Mary Lautensleger officiating. Burial will follow at Palestine United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stokesdale. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 26 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church, 6012 Germanton Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
