Dorothy Ashley Chambers

Mrs. Dorothy A.Chambers died Monday, August 23, 2010 at Wake Med Center in Cary, NC after an extended illness. She was born in Yadkin County on September 15, 1922, one of ten children. Born to Calvin Dee and Stella Shugart Ashley. Mrs. Chambers worked many years at Hanes Knitting Co. and later at Royal Cake Co. in Winston-Salem. She loved being with her family watching NASCAR, going to the beach and her reese's cups. Mrs. Chambers was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Wilmoth Chambers who she married on March 25, 1939. Also by two sons, Danny Chambers and Jerry W. Chambers, and a grandson Randy Pruitt. Survivors are her daughter, Patricia Pruitt and husband Gene of Kernersville; her son, Steve and wife Kelly of Cary, NC, six grandchildren including Robert Pruitt and wife Lisa of Winston-Salem, Jeff Pruitt of Cary, NC, Paul Chambers of Charlotte, NC and Steven Chambers of Newnan, GA; seven great grandchildren; Three great- great grandchildren and one sister, Florence A. Curtis of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Friday, August 27 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Gibbons officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
