Dorothy Eaton Burton

Kernersville- Dorothy Eaton Burton, 86, went home to be with The Lord, Friday, May 8, 2015 at Oak Forest Health & Rehab Center. Dorothy was born on December 29, 1928 in Stokes County to Oscar Franklin and Della Mae Boles Eaton. She retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 36 years of service and was a charter member of Kerwin Community Tabernacle Church. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, singing and playing the guitar. She especially enjoyed attending Gospel singings on Saturday nights. She dearly loved her grandchildren and cherished their visits. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest P. Burton; a daughter, Carolyn Mae Burton; four brothers, Otis, Clemon, Herbert and Bobby Eaton. Surviving are three children Shirley Martin (David) of Walkertown, Larry Parker Burton (Teresa) of Winston-Salem, and Sharon Winters (Allen) of Kernersville; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Eaton; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 10, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel and at other times at the home of David and Shirley Martin.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Oak Forest Health and Rehab for their loving care and kindness shown to Dorothy during her stay.
