Dorothy Dotson Bruce

Dorothy Dotson Bruce, age 96, of Winston-Salem, was called home to the Lord on October 22, 2023. Dot, as she was called by her friends and family, was raised in Boone, NC. After graduating high school, she moved to Winston-Salem where she was employed by Hanes Hosiery. Upon starting a family, Dot chose to stay home and remained a homemaker for the rest of her career.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jetter C. Bruce, her mother Doris Greene Dotson, her father Conor Rom Dotson, her brothers Kenneth Dotson, Marvin Dotson, Dale Dotson, Floyd Dotson and her sisters Marie Watson, Myrtle Whitman, Margaret Demster and Peggy Norris. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, George West. She is survived by daughters Lesa West of Colfax, Cindy Farrington (Rick) of Big Canoe, Georgia, grandson David West (Ashley), granddaughters Ashley Farrington (Daniel Hill) and Katie Redmon (Craig), great granddaughters Olivia and Emma West, Rosalie Farrington-Hill, and Allie and Harper Redmon.

Dot was an active member of Bethabara Moravian Church for many decades. Her favorite Bible Verse was Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.” Memorials may be made to Bethabara Moravian Church.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:00 in the chapel at Forsyth Memorial Park. Visitation will start 30 minutes prior at 10:30.
