Mrs. Dorothy ""Dot"" Johnson Allgood passed away at her home Monday morning November 19, 2012. She was born on October 4, 1932 in Forsyth County to the late DeeWitt and Emma Jarvis Johnson. Dot enjoyed being outside working in the yard, going to the beach and visiting all of the nation's lighthouses. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. Dot and her husband Thurman enjoyed traveling all over, and have visited every state except Alaska and Hawaii. She has a huge collection of lighthouses that she gathered from all of her many trips. She was preceded in death by siblings Pauline, John, and Felix. Dot is survived by her loving husband and long time friend of 62 years Thurman Allgood; daughters Brenda Sink and Linda Weaver; grandsons Todd Sink, Travis Sink, and Josh Weaver; brother Gilbert ""Jack"" Johnson; cousin (who is like a sister) Judy Beshears; and best friends Patty Cameron and Lynn Lampley. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday November 23, 2012 at Union Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Elrod officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Union Ridge United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Union Ridge United Methodist Church 3620 Old Lexington Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or Hospice and Palliative Care 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
