Doris Mae Griffin Wood

Walnut Cove, NC: Wood: Doris Mae Griffin Wood, 78 of Walnut Cove, NC, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Wood was born November 20, 1931 in Forsyth County to the late Lindsay and Mabel Eagleson Griffin. She was a former member of the First Christian Church of Walnut Cove and was retired from Amp Inc. After retirement, she worked for the town of Walnut Cove. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman W. Wood, a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Wood, two brothers; Bill and Bobby Griffin and a sister, Nancy Pettus. Surviving to cherish her memory, are her daughter, Carolyn Blankenship and husband, Garry of Winston-Salem, three granddaughters; Karen Kirkman and husband, Shawn of High Point, Donna Logan and husband, Matthew of Mocksville, Sarah Blankenship of Midway, two great-granddaughters; Rachel Kirkman, Brynlee Logan and another great-granddaughter due in April. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the First Christian Church of Walnut Cove, officiated by the Rev. Pete Harris. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Walnut Cove.
