Mrs. Doris Elizabeth McGuire Wishon, 81, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born on February 1, 1929 in Ashe Co. to the late Joseph Spencer McGuire and Myrtle Greer McGuire. Mrs. Wishon was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 38 years of service and was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Walkertown. Mrs. Wishon was blessed to be called ""mom"" by many more than her own children and each of them will always have a special place in her heart. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Billy Hamilton Wishon, two brothers, Julian and Charles McGuire and a sister, Wanda Sullivan. Mrs. Wishon is survived by her daughter, Deb Wishon of Walkertown, her son, Todd Wishon (Kelly) of Walnut Cove, her grandson and the light of her life, Michael Wishon, two sisters, Effie Wooten of Winston-Salem and Shirley Sidden (John) of Winston- Salem, two brothers, Owen McGuire (Jo) of Florida and Stewart McGuire (Billie) of Midway and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Mrs. Wishon will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Rev. David Fulp officiating. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 prior to the service on Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. The family would like to thank Dr. Zakan, Heather Mackey, Angie and Melinda at Winston-Salem Health Care and to the 8th Floor Palliative Care at Forsyth Medical Center.
