Doris Wilkins Taylor, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, had her home going on March 5, 2018 after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late John D. Wilkins and Nell Rose Duffer. She retired from Western Electric as an Editor after 31 ½ years. She loved family vacations to the beach, southern gospel music and a good book or crossword puzzle. She attended First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Winston Salem.She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Taylor, Jr.; and all of her sisters, Pat Jarrard, Adele Azmon, and Vivian (Bibby) Huff. She is survived by her five children: Charles E. Taylor III (Margaret), Jeffrey W. Taylor (Cathy), Steven B. Taylor of the home, Ricky L. Taylor, and Kathryn Taylor Hines (Dwayne); one sister-in-law, Shirley L. Taylor; six grandchildren: Jennifer Taylor Jacques (Brent), Suzanne Taylor VanWeerdhuizen (Damond), Julie Hines Dagenhardt (Tyler), Ryan Hines, Hailey Taylor, and Adrienne Ball. She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren: Mason & Madison VanWeerdhuizen, J.P, Allison, & Ethan Dagenhardt, Grant & Leighton Jacques, Caroline Stowe, Madilynn & Austin Batten; and many nieces and nephews that she loved. A service will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Winston-Salem, with The Rev. Tim Wolfe officiating. The family will receive friends 12:00 -1:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if you would like, donations may be made to the Falcon Children's Home, c/o First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 998 Hutton St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
