Doris Lee Crews Stevens

Stokesdale - Doris Lee Crews Stevens, 81, passed away January 23, 2009. She was born on August 13, 1927, to the late Joseph and Nellie Jane Crews. Doris enjoyed her life as a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She also enjoyed reading and cooking and loved the outdoors and mountains. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Chester E. Stevens, a son, Tommy and four sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Christine ""Cricket"" White and husband, Jessie, of Stokesdale, and Louise Bolen of Oak Ridge; three sons, Ray Stevens of Madison, Dale Stevens of Stokesdale and Jimmy Stevens of Bethany; 25 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; and a step-daughter, Frances Woods, of Stoneville. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, January 26, 2009, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Linville Goad officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery in Kernersville . The family will receive friends 7-9 pm Sunday, January 25, 2009, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Kernersville Chapel and at other times at the home of Louise Bolen, 2600 Oak Ridge Road, Oak Ridge, NC.
