Mrs. Doris Ayscue Smith, 71, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Louisburg, NC on January 25, 1943 to Hurley Jenkins and Zona Mae Tutor Ayscue. Mrs. Smith worked as a medical transcriptionist at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for 33 years. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Smith enjoyed shopping and gardening. In her younger years she bowled in a league and enjoyed dancing. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who truly understood the meaning of family. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Shelvie Jean Burnette; and her mother-in-law, Ruby Ray. She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Smith; two daughters, Lisa Beck and husband Jason of Clemmons and Michelle Hannah and husband Hank of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Kaylee Beck, Kristen Davis, Ashley Davis, and Chandler Hannah; three step-children, Lisa Everhart, Rhonda Reid, and Michael Smith, all of Winston-Salem; four step-grandchildren, Bradley Everhart, Brittany James and husband, Adam, Adam Reid, Brittany Reyes and husband Chris; two sisters, Hilda Cottrell of Louisburg and Nancy Bowers and husband Richard of Louisburg; and numerous other loving relatives. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the funeral home. The family would like to give special thanks to the ACE- Unit, Dr. Applegate and his team, as well as the staff of KBR Hospice Home for their loving care.
