Mrs. Doris Ruth Kiser Rutledge, 91, gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, October 8, 2022. She was born on November 30, 1930, in Stokes Co. the daughter of Clady Vestal Kiser and Ruth Boyles Kiser. She graduated from King High School, was then employed by the Department of Navy in Washington, D.C. and retired from the Veterans Administration in Winston-Salem, NC in 1985. Doris was married to William “Mack” Rutledge for 42 years. She was a member of King Moravian Church, where she served as treasurer for her Sunday School Class for many years. Doris was the embodiment of unconditional love and servanthood with the perfect amount of wit and sarcasm. She loved spending time with her family, serving in her church, cooking for others, traveling, taking pictures, and spoiling her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. If she wasn’t in the kitchen baking a pound cake or playing with the grandkids/great grandkids, you could find her rocking on the front porch and enjoying the weather. Doris was greeted in Heaven by her husband, Mack, her parents, Vestal and Ruth, and two brothers, Joe W. Kiser and wife Catherine and Hugh W. Kiser and wife Wanda. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Steve Rutledge (Vickie), Greg Rutledge, Randy Rutledge (Joy) and Annette Clayton (Jamie); her grandchildren, Lisa Marvin (Eric), Chad Rutledge, Kasi Sequeira (Zeke) and Macy Graham (Matthew); and her great-grandchildren, Gracie and Ella Marvin and Ezra Sequeira. Doris’ life will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at King Moravian Church. Burial will follow in King Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends informally outside of the church from 3:30-4:30 p.m. prior to the service at King Moravian Church. The Family would like to extend a special thank you for the love and care shown by the in home care givers and the staff of Priddy Manner during Mrs. Rutledge’s time of need. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to King Moravian Church, 228 W. Dalton Rd., King, NC 27021 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
