Doris Virginia Smith Neal

Mrs. Doris Virginia Smith Neal, 87, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 6, 1937, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Calvin Warren Smith and Margaret Burton Smith. Doris enjoyed fishing down at the coast, coloring, and eating her chocolate. In addition, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Will Roger Vernon, Sr.; her second husband, Bob Neal; two sons, Will Roger Vernon, Jr. and Jeffery Warren Vernon. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Vernon; three sons, Michael Vernon (Kristi), Brian Vernon (Kathy), and David “P-Nut” Vernon; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11am Monday, December 2, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Bro. Mitch Monroe officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service beginning at 10am at the funeral home.
