Mrs. Doris Marion Everhart Melton, 76, of Winston Salem, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at her home peacefully with her family by her side. She was born September 19, 1938 in Forsyth County to the late Joseph Parker and Edna Mae Thomas Everhart. Mrs. Melton was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of the Living God. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William ""Billy"" Haywood Melton, a brother David Everhart. She is survived by her six children Sandra Rothrock, Joanne Turner, William Joseph Melton, Jimmy Noah, Jody Melton, and Leah West; three grandchildren Dennis Bowles, Wilburn Rothrock, and Ryan Melton; numerous great-grandchildren, the closest were Maranda Bowles, Tylor Bowles, Hailey West, Serenity Manning, and Terry Bowles. She also had two very close family members that looked after her on a daily basis, Tommy Noah and Barbara Melton. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Mt. Carmel Church of The Living God with Pastor Charlie Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
