Doris Sloan Icenhour

Mrs. Doris Sloan Icenhour, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Doris was born May 29, 1929 to the late James Mitchell Sloan and Faye Mills Sloan. She was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church and served as a preschool teacher for the church. She was an excellent seamstress and provided family and friends with her labor of love. She was also a wonderful cook, canning and freezing all of her husband's vegetables from their garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Asa Martin Icenhour. Surviving are her daughters, Debbie I. Tucker and husband Doug, Sandy I. Shelton and husband Merle, Kim I. Reich and husband Garry, and Janis I. Mitchell and husband Ronnie, all of Winston-Salem; son, Jamie M. Icenhour of Greensboro; grandchildren, Jeff, Amanda, Emily, Christopher, and Brinlee; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Holden, Jackson, Chance, and Rowan; and sisters, JoAnn Blankenship and husband Mack of Greensboro and Shirley Allen of Winston-Salem. She also leaves loving and caring in-laws, Margie, Blenda, Patsy, Jearl, and Geraldine; and a special friend, Peggy Dillard. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Dr. Mark J. Key officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. The family would like to thank Senior Services, Home Instead, Vienna Village, Susan Diehl, Ronda Doss, Hospice, and Kim and Garry for their loving care of our mother. Memorials may be made to Mt.
