Doris Huggins

Mrs. Doris Lorraine Huggins, 74, of Advance, formerly of Asheville passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born September 13, 1936 in Buncombe County to Melvin and Lorene Gasperson Cothran. Mrs. Huggins was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County until 2003 when she moved to Winston-Salem. She worked at Biltmore Manufacturing and Andrex Industries. She was a member of Averys Creek Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar Lee Huggins; and a brother, Melvin ""Bud"" Cothran. Surviving are two sons, David (Suzanne) Huggins and Jon (Hayley) Huggins; a daughter, Renee (Armondo) Chavez; eight grandchildren, Selena (Danny) Young, Mark (Patti) Huggins, Kimberly Huggins, Jessica Huggins, Melissa (James) Bartlett, Tifani Cupp, Michael Cupp, and Nia Cupp; four great grandchildren, Samantha Young, Austin Bartlett, Hayley Bartlett, and Nathaniel Bartlett; and a sister, Sarah (Maurice) Herzberg. The family will receive friends from 12 - 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 19 at Groce Funeral Home Lake Julian Chapel, 72 Long Shoals Road, Arden, NC.
