Mrs. Doris Geraldine Hayes Howard, 85, of Clemmons passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born February 8, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to Orville Dewey Hayes Sr. and Etta Pearl Reavis Hayes. She was a devout Christian and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and loved her dogs. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years William W. Howard, Sr. and a sister, Betty Benge. Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Lenderman and husband, Randall, Melanie Harris and husband, Scott all of Clemmons; a son, Warren Howard and wife, Beth of Clemmons; six grandchildren, Christopher Harris, Matt and Holly Lenderman, Joe and Mike Howard and Erin Kennedy; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Alyne ""Sue"" Merry of Lewisville, Carol Capps of Clemmons; two brothers, Ivan Hayes of Advance, O.D. ""Red"" Hayes, Jr. and wife, Virginia of Advance; a special nephew, Stevie Drane of Clemmons; and a special friend ""Sugar"". Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Dr. Randall Lenderman and Rev. Jimmy Clodfelter officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Kate B.
