Doris Ellen Southern Davis

Mrs. Doris Ellen Southern Davis, 60, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Silas Creek Manor. She was born August 27, 1949 in Winston-Salem, the daughter of the late William Gray and Donnie Jane Newsome Southern. Mrs.Davis was a member of First Wesleyan Church and was a graduate of Parkland High School, Class of 1967. She was an avid NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour fan. Survivors include two daughters, Tina Southern Childs and husband, Brad of Montgomery, AL and Dana Davis Alvarez and husband, Jose of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Kalob Davis, Ian Wright and Chloe Childs; one sister, Nancy Southern Shook of Winston-Salem; and four brothers, Ronnie Southern and wife, Debbie of Winston-Salem, Steve Southern and wife, Carol of SC, Keith Southern of Asheville and Jerre Southern of FL. A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 11:00 am at Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Tommy Albertson officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mrs. Davis' name to Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
