Dorcas Richardson Johnson

Dorcas Richardson Johnson of Winston-Salem went to be with our Lord on October 31, 2010. She was born February 22, 1921 to Lathan and Bessie Wilson Richardson of Union County, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Eli Richardson; three sisters, Gladys Motsinger, Elizabeth Poindexter, and Lathan Richardson; her husband, Vincent Lee Johnson; and granddaughter, Wendy Michelle Johnson. She was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School. She worked at Firestone during WWII and was employed by Hanes Knitting Company. She was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother. Mrs. Johnson was a long time active member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, serving on a number of committees over the years and enjoyed her time singing with the Joy Singers. She is survived by three children, Barry Lee Johnson and wife Peggy Burrow Johnson, Beverly Johnson Gillon and husband Whit Gillon and Lisa Johnson Stanley and husband Timm Stanley; six grandchildren, Traci Johnson Loria, Lee Johnson and wife Lisa Herring, Brandon Gillon and wife Jodie Moss, Holly Gillon, Megan Stanley and Chris Stanley; five great-grandchildren; and many family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6 at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Dr. Earl Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
