Donna Kay Shields

Donna Kay Shields, 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. She was born in Guilford County on April 26, 1953, to Irene Pruitt Shields and the late Phillip Wade Shields. Donna was a kind and giving individual. She dedicated over 15 years as a teacher in Virginia and North Carolina and had an immense love of helping the students she taught. Donna’s best days were spent with her nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews, whom she loved immeasurably. She was also fond of visiting the beach. Donna will be missed by those who knew and loved her. 

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her grandparents. 

In addition to her mother, Irene, she is survived by two brothers, Doug Shields and Phillip Shields; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Freeman and Dr. Chuck Peters officiating. Friends are welcome to visit the family following the service in the fellowship hall. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
