Donna Faye Shore Painter passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, due to complications from Covid-19 and diabetes.
Donna believed that according to what Apostle Paul said in ll Corinthians, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” Jesus Christ says in John 14, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way you know.”
Born on August 1, 1948, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. After spending 20 years working at McLean Trucking Co, she joined her husband in creating and expanding the family furniture business, Contempo Concepts.
Donna enjoyed the fellowship at Gospel Light Baptist Church, where she was a member for 45 years. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, especially to Italy and New York City. Donna was a huge fan of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Foster Painter; parents, Virginia and Coy Shore; and sister, Wanda Jean Shore. Survivors include her husband, James E. Painter; sons, Barrett Painter (Brooke) and Timothy Painter (Catrina Luis); grandchildren, Collin (Cathleen), Camryn, and Cayden Painter; and great-grandson, Coleson. As a devoted wife and mother, she will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown Guthrie Road, in Winston-Salem, NC, officiated by Rev. Frank Shumate and Rev. Kenneth Pardue. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. A private family burial will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Breakthrough T1D, PO Box 5021, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5021.
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family.
