Donna Abbott Gates

Ms. Donna Abbott Gates, 62, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023.  Donna was born in Surry County, NC on May 9, 1960, to the late Richard Chaffin Abbott and Betty Jo Ellis Abbott.  Donna moved to Pittsburgh, PA around the age of 14 and spent her teenage years there, graduating in 1978 from Shaler Area High School.  She worked for BellSouth for many years in Winston-Salem.  In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her brother, Jonathan Chaffin Abbott.  She is survived by two brothers, Christopher Abbott and Aaron Abbott and wife, Mi Son.  Donna is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.  No formal services will be held.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.  Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Ms. Gates.
