Mr. Donald Gray Vaden, 84, passed away Wednesday September 28, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 2, 1938 in Surry County to the late Nera and Frances Vaden. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, worked for RJ Reynolds, and retired from Roadway Trucking. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, loved farming as well as working outside. In his later years Donald attended Red Bank Missionary Church while his health would permit. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter; Tracy Vaden. Donald is survived by his fiancée and caregiver, Patsy Martin, three children; Tammy Montgomery (Brad), Bradley Vaden, and Cray Vaden, a granddaughter; Faryl Montgomery (Kassem Alnofaily), two great-grandchildren; Lennox and Maverick Alnofaily, three children he adored as his own grandchildren; Andrew Martin, Anna Parsons, and Jamie Holt, two children he adored as his own great-grandchildren; Madelyn and Easton, two siblings; Judy Tuttle (Sammie), and Kenneth Vaden, and many special friends including; Mark Lawson, Kevin Martin, Jackie Martin, Don Rutledge, Emily Martin, Charlene Holt, and Dickie Lawson. A funeral Service will be conducted 2:00PM Monday October 3, 2022 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall with Rev. Gary Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
