Donald "Donnie" Ray Thrift, Jr.

Mr. Donald “Donnie” Ray Thrift, Jr., 65, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021.  Donnie was born in Forsyth County on July 12, 1955, to the late Donald Ray Thrift, Sr. and Janey Ayers Thrift.  Donnie was a self-employed roofer and well known for his work ethic.  He loved working in his yard and garden and enjoyed spending time with his family and pets, especially at Sunset Harbor.  In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his sister, Patty Hicks.  He is survived by his wife, Raynell Zimmerman Thrift; siblings, Ronnie Thrift (Rebecca), Curtis Hicks, Andy Hicks, and Dale Maurer (Kala); and beloved dog, Tetra.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Advent Moravian Church Graveyard with Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.  Donnie was a loving husband, son and brother.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
