Donald "Don" Hester

KERNERSVILLE – Donald Larry Hester, 88 died at home on November 26, 2022. He was born in Stanley, NC, in 1934, to the late Clyde and Kathleen Abernethy Hester. Don served in the United States Air Force, where he was a navigator.  After his military service, he pursued an education and was a graduate of North Carolina State University, the University of New Mexico, and Duke University. He taught electrical engineering at Virginia Tech, and later worked for the Bell Telephone Laboratories and then finished his career as the founding president of Micro Computer Systems in Greensboro.

Don was a member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dotsie Moore Hester, and a son, Clint Hester.  He is survived by a brother, Boyce Hester (Shirley); a son, Tracy Hester (Kimberly); and two grandchildren, Katherine and Audrey Hester.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on December 15th at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Gaston County, NC with Pastor Brian Elwell officiating.
