Donald Gray Templeton

Mr. Donald Gray Templeton, 72, passed away December 10, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1939 in Forsyth County. He was preceded in death by his parents, John MartinTempleton and Minnie Ellen Cummings Templeton. He married the love of his life, Helen Marie Haley Templeton on July 5, 1963. They were married 49 ½ years at the time of his passing. His most proud moment was the birth of his son, Donald Ray Templeton on December 1, 1964. They shared many happy times together. Mr. Templeton worked 17 years at the Indera Mills and retired from R.J.R. Tobacco Co. with 24 years of service. He was a multi-talented man who loved to make handcrafted items from wood or metal. He loved hunting and fishing with his family. He also loved to travel all over the United States before his health declined. He, his wife, and son were baptized in 1991 by Charles Samuel Brackett, then pastor of Church of God of Prophecy. They continued to minister to him until his death. Mr. Templeton and his family joined First Assembly of God in 1997. He was a member of the Overcomers Group. They also ministered to him till his passing. Most recently he and his family were attending the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, pastured by Rev. Tim Wolf. This church, as the others, were wonderful to Donald and his family throughout his last year of life. In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by his sister, Pauline Templeton Rutledge; two aunts, Vivian Cummings and Thelma (Travis) Haneline; an uncle, Ed Myers; nephews, Bobby (Sandy) and Gary (Treasa) Templeton, Michael (Gloria) Haley; nieces, Martha Haley Byrd (Neal) and Cecelia Haley; great nieces and nephews, Sophia, Catherine, Samuel, Isaias, Haley, and Paula Templeton and Hope, and Jenna Templeton. Included in his family are special friends, Michael, Cindy, Derrick, and Crystal Isler. He is also survived by many cousins. Mr. Templeton was a kind and humble man who will be forever missed. His sweet smile will always remain in our hearts. His love of God held fast to the end. The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who attended to and cared for Don with Kindness, compassion, and love in the ICU at Forsyth Medical Center. Special thanks to the Digestive Health Specialist PA's, Pat and Jocelyn and the entire GI nursing staff of the 2nd floor at Forsyth Medical Center. Even to his last breath Donald Gray Templeton held fast in his faith and dedication to God. For in death he was victorious and now he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Amen. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Tim Wolfe, Rev. Elwood Rakes, and Rev. Charles Samuel Brackett officiating.
