Winston-Salem- Mr. Donald Gray Stone, 69, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 5, 2009. He was born November 5, 1939 in Stokes County to Roy and Sula Westmoreland Stone. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was a Scout leader. Mr. Stone was of the Baptist faith and attended Rosemont Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wallace Stone. Surviving are his loving wife, Linda Wall Stone; a son, David Stone (Tricia); a grandson, Bo David Stone; a stepson, John Neil Tate (Lori); step-grandchildren, Ty Ferguson and Elizabeth Lynn Tate; his mother-in-law, Mary Wall; two sisters, Mary Katheryn Cockerham and Kay Sauvageau (Joe) and three brothers, Roy Kenneth Stone (Irene), Billy Dale Stone (Pat), Jimmy Stone, and a sister-in-law, Bettie Stone and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Rosemont Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Don showed a lot of love and support to everyone he met, especially his mother-in-law, Mary Wall.
