Donald Lee Stack passed away on Friday evening August 7, 2015, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital after a long battle with several illnesses. He was on dialysis treatments for ten years, which was much longer than expected. We attributed his lengthy dialysis survival to the skilled and loving care he received at Northside Dialysis Center in Winston-Salem.
He was born to Lee Roy Stack and Nellie Lou Reece Stack on December 28, 1946. He graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1965, North's second graduating class. He was very intelligent and continued his education at East Carolina University, majoring in Business Administration. He became a highly skilled auto mechanic, which started in his high school years with his father's guidance. He was known as a man who could fix anything. He would help anyone in need. He had a quick and gentle sense of humor. His father married Polly Anders. A daughter Deborah (Debbie) Jane was born to them. Debbie married Kevin Miller. They have three daughters: Chelsie, Sydney, and Gracie.
On November 23, 1967, Don married his high school sweetheart Alice Ingold Stack. They had one child, Randall Lee Stack, who was born January 27, 1969. Don enjoyed being a nurturing father and was a loving husband.
When Don was five years old, his mother died in a tragic car crash. His father did his best to help his son grow to be a kind and responsible young man. His mother's family comforted and helped him through the difficult times. He was especially close to his grandmother Dixie Reece (deceased). His mother's sister Opal also cared about him until her death. He remained close to his Reece relatives all his life.
He is survived by his wife and son and many Reece family members in North Carolina, which include: his aunt and uncle Polly and Bob Voegele, and their children Pat Phelps and Bob, Jr., as well as Polly and Bob's grandchildren Brenton, Cameron, Rob, and Emily; his aunt Pat Stump and her daughters Deborah Butner (husband Dean and son Mark Stiller), and their grandchildren Peyton and Carsyn; Jane Edmonds (husband Jim) and their children Brian (officiating) and Andrew Edmonds, and their grandchildren Journey and Jett; and many cousins: Melinda Crews, Dianne Hargrove; Tim, Jamie, Scott, and Rodney Reece; and Vivian Binkley, Wanda Hamm, Jerold Reece, and Sophia Mynhier. Other members of the Reece family are aunt and uncle Mary and Mel Arnold of Florida and their children Denny, Kenneth, and Joe.
Surviving members of his wife's family include: Allison Ellis, husband Rick, and son Ricky of Kernersville, NC; Steve Ingold, wife Melinda, and children Chad and Michael of Blanche, NC; Jan Speaks, husband Chris, and children Ansley, Drew, Hannah, and Samantha of Simpsonville, SC; and Reece Ingold of Florida.
