Donald Ray Smith

Mr. Donald Ray Smith, 85, of Winston-Salem passed away November 8, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Laurel, Maryland to the late Leroy Smith and Eva Carr Smith. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Williams Smith, a daughter, Cindy Lynn Smith, a son, Donald ""Riff"" Smith, Jr., and his longtime companion, Sarah Phelps. He is survived by three daughters, Penny Maria Wall and husband Lloyd, Sheila Finley, and Dona Kay Powell; eight grandchildren, Koreena Walker, Wendy Pierce, Virgil Walker, Jr., Nora Cowen, Maria Menestrina, Blake Finley, Bobbi Lee Friling, and J.P. Powell; many great-grandchildren; his two beloved dogs; his two special friends, Vanessa and Kelsey. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Hanes Baptist Church, 4210 Sabrina Lake Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127, with the Rev. Jason Holly officiating.
