Donald Ray Simms

Pfafftown- Mr. Donald Ray Simms, 68, passed away Monday, February 09, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born July 23, 1940 to the late James Marvin and Daisey Gilbert Simms in Bluefield, W. Va. Mr. Simms was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Vienna Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Frances Lashmit and Peggy Belcher. Surviving is his devoted and loving wife of 39 years, Donna Kirby Simms; seven children, Missy Ireland and husband Dean of Sandy Ridge, Melondie Cline of Winston-Salem, Christopher Simms and fianc郩 Jody, Donna Marie Simms of South Carolina, Donald Simms and wife Dawn of Walnut Cove, Warren Simms of Lewisville, and Michelle Sigmon and husband Mike of Advance; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; also surviving is a sister, Gladys Baldwin of Florida and a brother, David Simms and wife Judy of Rural Hall. A service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel with Mr. Kent Meeker officiating. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:00 PM Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
