Donald Ray Fulp

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

2 Timothy 4:7.

Mr. Donald Ray Fulp, 81, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully November 17, 2024. He was born September 6, 1943, in Forsyth County to the late Ernest Woodrow Fulp and Nannie Bynum Grubbs Fulp.

He was a 1961 graduate of Walkertown High School. On September 5th, 1964, Don married the love of his life, Velma Josephine Walls (Jo).He retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 34 years of service. After retirement, he started a used car business and was the co-owner of Oakleaf Auto Sales. Later, he became the co-owner of Fulp Brother's Variety store. Don lived life to the fullest enjoying both yard and auction sales, cooking, coaching baseball, golfing, fishing, hunting, and traveling to numerous countries. He loved the beach at Pawleys Island, SC where he owned a secondary home. He loved spending time with his family and friends as well as his three Pomeranian dogs Rusty, Jake, and Bam. He especially loved watching his grandsons play baseball and football. He never missed a game during their Little League, middle and high school years. While we lost our precious daddy, most have lost a friend and loved one in him. There was so much more to him than just being our dad, which was his greatest calling - he was also a beloved grandpa, friend, coworker, brother/brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and coach. A generous person, he loved helping people and giving gifts. He was a very loving, kind, and gentle person who will forever be in our hearts and missed very much everyday.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia and his four brothers, Royce, Bill, Richard, and his twin brother, Ron Fulp. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jo, of the home; three children, Donna (Mike) Chunn, Karen (Robby) Lilly, both of King, and David (Traci) Fulp of Kernersville; five grandchildren, Christopher (Hannah) Chunn, Dustin Chunn, Josh (Lacy) Chunn, Brandon Lilly, and Austin (Molly) Lilly; three very special sisters-in-law; Bonnie, Jan, and Jean; many nieces and nephews; and last but not least, special friends Wayne and Glada Harrell. He was especially excited about the upcoming arrival of his first great-grandchild in May 2025.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Hospitalists Dr. Keith Henry and Dr. Brendon McQuellon as well as his Primary Care Physician, Dr. Joshua Long of Mountain View Medical in King. A special thanks to Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center 6 West and to the ICU team for their professional and exemplary care during his illness.
